Rwanda-France and Rwanda-DRC: Is the Rwanda Patriotic Front dominated government fighting at two "western" fronts concomitantly?
Some might contest the accuracy or the usefulness of the statistics quoted by a conservative MP stating "there are more blacks than White criminals in the UK Prisons", but, for sure, none would contest Black Africa is a result of the "black syndromes": short sightedness, primitive tribal or ethnical survival instincts and inability to cope with the tremendous complexities of the modern world.
In contrast, and citing just one example, whereas the prospective UK's Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, a Scottish, told Labour delegates September 25, 2006 "(...) I’ve spent all my political life defending the unity of great Britain against narrow nationalism (...)", General Nkunda, a Tutsi commanding a 2,000 men rebel group strongly allied to Rwanda stated "I will not recognize the new government regardless of who won; will oppose by force any deployment of new brigades in the territory under my control and will defend my Congolese Tutsi brothers if they are threatened".
Rwanda-DRC: A western Front?
General NKunda is a Tutsi, born in DRC's north province- Kivu, close to Rwanda. His ancestors called Banyamulenge, one of 400 plus tribes in DRC, arrived in the country from Rwanda more than a century ago.
According to the BBC, he holds a degree in Psychology and he fought alongside Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF)- a rebel movement formed by Rwandan Tutsi in exile which invaded Rwanda in 1990 and took control thereof in 1994.
Following the victory, General Laurent Nkunda returned in DRC but only to join RPF's massive invasion in 1996 as a commander in Rwandan-backed political party which controlled most of the East of the DRC.
Despite a power shearing deal in 2002, he has refused to report to Kinshasa's army commandment and clearly states Rwandans are his allies. According to the United Mission in DR Congo-Monuc- he is holed up in the mountains northwest of Sake (a few miles from Goma) and has a force of about 2,000 men.
According to the BBC, Rwanda has lately taken the role of mediation between its Son and serving army officer based in DRC- Gen Nkunda- and DRC (To read more, please click here).
It's true DRC has now an elected president for the first time in 4 decades or so; it's true a 35 year old president has appointed a 81 year old prime minister from the opposition, but peace in DRC pretty much depends on how the West, which is acting through neighbour countries, will behave.
Rwanda-France: A Western front?
To read more on the diplomatic row between the two countries, please click here and please appreciate how worse the situation has evolved ever since by clicking here.
Please just take a second or two to imagine, just few days after the row, how thoughtful Rwanda's exit from Francophone and membership to the commonwealth has been. Furthermore, please appreciate the strings of advantages given to Rwanda by certain Western Powers in the aftermath of Rwanda-France row.
You must remember, fellow black Africans, either serving today or tomorrow's masters, the deaths of our citizens and chaos in our countries are the result of the "Zero-Sum Game" wherein the [superpower] winner wins only what the loser loses (Cashman G., 1993. What causes war?: An introduction to the theories of international conflicts. Lanham, Md. ; Oxford : Lexington Books. Pp.131-132). The enfeebling example of Rwanda is elegantly explained here.
