Can LED lights burn out? Led lights do not get hot like old incandescent bulbs do. They have the advantage of not having a filament inside them. Infact LED lights rarely burn out. Instead they get dim with age. LED lights do not produce heat. But in some rare cases when these lights burn out are over voltage, water damage or weak heat sinking. To avoid damaging LEDs from heat, prevent it from severe weather conditions and put a proper heat sink on the LED. Can LED Lights be dimmed? Like every other electronic light source, LED lights dim with time. Although LED lights have a long lifespan therefore the dimming process will take a long time and if you buy a light from a good source and trusted manufacturer, you will rarely notice the decreasing efficiency of your lights. Most importantly, when you buy a light for outdoor purposes such as LED Street Lights, make sure it is waterproof and has a long lifespan or good warranty given by the manufacturer. Can LED lights cause fire? Unlike old filament based light sources which need to get hot to produce light, LED lights produce light when electricity passes through the semiconductor diode. As these lights don’t produce heat or don’t burn out they can’t cause fire. But anyways, try to keep your LED lights or street lights away from fragile things which burn out quickly. Because electricity can cause harm if there happens a short circuit or something like that.
