Malegra FXT is a combination medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE). It contains two active ingredients: Sildenafil Citrate, a PDE5 inhibitor, and Fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). While effective for many men, Malegra FXT is contraindicated in patients with heart problems due to its potential cardiovascular effects.

Sildenafil’s Effect on Blood Pressure:
Sildenafil relaxes blood vessels, which can lead to a significant drop in blood pressure. In patients with heart disease, especially those taking nitrate medications, this drop can cause serious complications such as fainting, heart attack, or stroke.
Increased Cardiac Workload:
Sexual activity itself increases heart rate and blood pressure. When combined with the vasodilating effect of Sildenafil, it may strain a weakened heart, increasing the risk of cardiac events.
Drug Interactions:
Fluoxetine can interact with other cardiovascular medications and may cause abnormal heart rhythms or serotonin syndrome when combined with certain drugs.
Underlying Conditions:
Patients with recent heart attacks, unstable angina, or severe heart failure are especially at risk.
